Sauti za Busara 2011
Music Festival, Zanzibar
9 – 13 February 2011
The Sauti za Busara music festival, Zanzibar features a rich variety of African music from the region with more than four hundred musicians participating over five days in historic Stone Town supplemented with fringe events around town and across the island including a festival street parade.
African Performances under African Skies
From Wednesday through til Sunday, around eight groups perform each day. Big names rub shoulders with upcoming artists. Altogether there are thirty of the best groups of Zanzibar, Tanzania and around East Africa, traditional and modern, acoustic and electric. Plus ten groups representing other parts of the African Continent and diaspora.
All the music is performed live. Starting in the late afternoon, as the sunshine softens and shadows start to stretch out, and continuing virtually non-stop into the evening, with the final band taking to the stage around midnight.
